Practicum is the practical section of a course of study in which theory is put into practice.
This seminar is focused on practice so you will learn take home techniques to apply on your first day back at work. It is designed to give you more acupuncture tools to help you manage many of the problems that present in your daily practice.
Every session will begin with a brief coverage of theory and demonstration of techniques followed by a practical session where delegates can practise what has been taught, under the supervision of senior members of the AMAC QLD team.
Venue: Novotel Brisbane Airport, 6-8 The Circuit, Brisbane Airport QLD 4008.
This is close to the airport so people flying in will be only a few kilometres from the hotel
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided
- Chin Chan “Electroacupuncture 101”
Come and learn the basics of electroacupuncture (EA). No prior knowledge required. I will assume zero knowledge of EA as the starting point of this talk.
Everybody will be encouraged to bring their own EA machine and two leads with clips for the needles. All machines will be discussed to demystify the dials and settings. These same machines will be used for the practical sessions.
It is a big topic and I can cover only the fundamentals to get you started.
The following points will be covered:
- point selection
- type of needle to use
- basic neurophysiology
- EA machine fundamentals
- EA treatment parameters, frequency, amplitude etc
- conditions to treat
- everyone will practise needling
- everyone will be needled to experience EA so you know what it feels like and can explain it to the patient
- Anita Chang “TMM Protocol”
Tendino-Muscular Meridian Protocol for treatment of injuries.
Come and revise the protocols to have successful TMM treatment. Learn how to correctly diagnose the affected tendino-muscular meridian which is not necessarily related to the location of initial injury. You will also learn how to detect sinew pulses. This is a very hands-on session! Don’t miss it if you want to add this to your acupuncture treatment tool box.
Be the live case to be treated!
- Navid Hamedani “NADA Protocol”
- Bill Meyers “Auricular Chromotherapy”
A new Auricular therapy technique for the treatment of psychological trauma. Easy to learn, quickly applied, powerful, effective. If you are brave, ask one of your chronic patients “What’s the worst thing that has ever happened to you?” on the Monday after the meeting and get to work – you have about 250 of these patients, on average.
